A man learning about perimenopause for his female partner from Nancy Bos voice expert professional speaker

Can you say this three times fast? Perimenopause, Perimenopause, Perimenopause

Yes? Really? You didn’t say Meripenopause? Then you are a Triumphant Tongue Twister Titan!

Does part of you wish you weren’t about to read a post about perimenopause? Don’t let that stop you.

You know somebody who is going through it. And you need to know the BASICS.

For most, it is a tricky, thorny labyrinth that we women don’t even realize we are walking through until it gets so bad we end up screaming something like, “HELP! I’m lost and bleeding!!!”

Holy cow I wish somebody had made me and my spouse read something like this when I was about 40 years old. (And 41, and 42, and 43…)

Paraphrasing the definition from the Cleveland Clinic

Perimenopause: the time during which a female body makes the transition to menopause… Women start perimenopause at different ages, and may notice signs (and there are a ton of signs) sometime in the 40s or even as early as mid-30s.

Perimenopause does not mean getting old! I wish somebody had told me that, too. Maybe then I would have taken time to learn about it. Then maybe I wouldn’t have blamed myself for being occasionally uncontrollably bitchy and having problems in my privates.

3 of many symptoms:

If you’ve gotten this far, you are probably starting to think, “Is there anything that can help? Where can I learn more without it taking a ton of time and becoming my new hobby?”

Yes! Watch this eye-opening 1-hr video from Dr. Ekta Kapoor of Mayo Clinic. It costs $20, and it is the best money you will ever spend if you are a woman or love a woman who’s in her 40s. Its an all-encompassing talk on perimenopause and menopause. Dr. Kapoor exposes the reasons women are being misled about optimizing health. Learn everything needed for a great foundation, including new findings your doctor might not even be aware of.

Once you’ve done all of this, if you want a deeper dive, personalizing the advice is the next best step. Find a specialist - a naturopath or a gynecologist who specializes in hormone changes in mid-life.
